The company which provided the facilities management services at the HMP prison was heavily fined more than £600,000, for failing to manage the risk of legionella bacteria in the hot and cold water systems.
Centres have a legal duty to keep employees and customers safe from exposure to Legionnaires’ disease. You must keep your site’s hot and cold water systems properly maintained and cleaned / disinfected.
Companies need to ensure they and have suitable and sufficient arrangements in place for managing the risk and for controlling the measurements they have in place.
